So what does "SP" mean? "SP" stands for "solid panel." That's a flat-center-panel door with a reverse-raised solid hardwood center panel. Why would you want that? If you're doing a painted door, you might not want it, frankly. But if you're doing stained wood, the center panel of an SP door will take stain with the same coloration as the hardwood frame. A 1/4" veneered flat center panel will usually stain with a (subtle) visible difference from the frame, especially in darker stains.
